During our history the United States has expanded its landholdings from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific. This expansion has been accomplished in a variety of ways.
What does "cede" mean, in terms of land expansion? Give, and explain, one specific example of a land cession that expanded our nation. What does "annex" mean, in terms of land expansion? Give, and explain, one specific example of land annexation that expanded our nation.
